Weevil – a conspicuous species of stink bug
A weevil is a sort of beetle of the Curculionoidea superfamily. They’re typically small, measuring below 6 mm and they’re herbivorous. There’re in excess of 60,000 species in a number of families, by and large in the family called Curculionidae.

Characteristics

It’s a conspicuous species of stink bug having fairly variable tinge. The color varies from steel blue to blue-black having orange, cream, and red markings on its scutellum, pronotum, and sides of its abdomen to reddish brown having largely yellow markings.

Behavior

The Weevil is a lone species. It dynamically makes its way through its surroundings on the lookout for prey. Despite having completely developed wings when a grown-up it doesn’t usually fly. This is the case with most stink bugs.

Distribution

They are found mainly in open areas, which include old fields, waste areas, and agricultural pastures, where they frequently feed on pest herbivores. They also occur all along the borders of swales and hammocks in Florida.

Diet

The Weevil is a killer from the 2nd instar all the way through adulthood. It’s branded as an insectivore and feeds on the larvae of Coleoptera and Lepidoptera. In “Lepidoptera” it feeds on black swallowtails, sleepy oranges, Baltimore checkerspots, soybean loopers, cabbage loopers, gypsy moths, and tent caterpillars.

Reproduction

A weevil has a couple of generations yearly over a greater part of its range. Males as well as females are going to have several mating with diverse individuals.
