The Savannah cat is a hybrid cat that is a cross breed between a serval which is a medium-sized, large-eared wild African cat and a domestic cat. It resembles a leapard.It is one of the largest cats in the cat breed.

The Savannah cat is a hybrid cat that is a cross breed between a serval which is a medium-sized, large-eared wild African cat and a domestic cat. It is one of the largest cats that are social in nature.

Characteristics

The Savannah cat is tall and slim build that makes them look larger than they really are. Their size is dependent on the breed of the cats. The male Savannahs are larger than the females at 6.3-11.3 kg. The later generation Savannahs weighs around 6.8 kg. The coat of the Savannah cat has spotted dots like cheetah. This is found in the Africa Serval cat.

Behavior

Though the Savannah cat may look a little ferocious, they are known to be very loyal animals that are very social and friendly and roam around their owners devotedly.  They can also be trained to walk on a leash and to fetch. They are known to jump really well on top of doors, refrigerators and high cabinets. Savannahs are very inquisitive. They often learn how to open doors and cupboards and they are good swimmers as well.

Distribution

The Savannah cats are found in Africa.

Diet

The dietary requirements are like those of an average domestic cat. They do not require a raw meat diet, but a balanced raw meat diet is the most nutritional diet available. Fresh water should be available at all times.

Reproduction

As Savannahs are produced by crossbreeding servals and domestic cats, each generation of Savannahs is marked with a filial number. They are breeded by F1 and F2 generations of cats.
