The word Python is obtained from the Greek word and it is a genus of non venomous pythons that are found in Africa and Asia. There are seven species of the python, however, three species have been very commonly seen and recognized. A python is a member of the genus, P. Reticulatus, and it is among the longest snakes and existing reptiles in the world.

There are various kinds of pythons that are spread all across the world. They are non venomous creatures and also make great pets. Pet pythons are safe and docile and they are available in a variety of colors and designs.

The general size of a python is around 6 to 30 ft. The adult full grown size of a python has also been measured up to 35 feet. The length of the python depends on its nutrition. Pythons have the ability to slide on the ground, climb on trees and swim in water. They are live for 20 years in captivity and less if they are left in the wild for food scarcity.

Distribution

Pythons are found all across the world, and they are mostly found in Africa, South of the Sahara, as well as the southern tip of Africa in Madagascar. In Asia, they are found in India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, Srilanka, as well as in the Nicobar islands. They are also found in the Indo China border, Indonesia and Philippines.

Diet

The python feeds on insects as well as small animals like rats and hedgehogs and seeds. They are non venomous and also do not feed on flesh of humans.

Reproduction

The female Python lays eggs in every season however, not all eggs hatch. They usually breed during the monsoon season. Depending on the collection of food, there give birth to their offspring. A Python likes to hibernate during the winter season as it does not like cold.
