The golden retriever is known to be a large breed of dog that are also known to be used as hunting dogs to retrieve fowls, wild ducks, and upland game birds. They are known as retrievers because of their ability to retrieve shot game birds in an undamaged way.

Golden retrievers are known to have a love for water and are also easy to train in basic standards. They are known to be the best friend of man and are also used as domestic pet dogs. They should be allowed to roam in the open because they need to exercise and they also need to be groomed regularly.

The Golden retriever is a large, strong and well bred dog with a good pedigree. It has a dense water repellant wavy coat. It is known to have widespread historical popularity with some regional variations. There are three kinds of Golden retriever based on their dimensions and their coats like blonde, yellow and gold color. They are smart dogs who love being companion of man.

Distribution

This dog was originally bred in Scotland, England, United States and Canada, however now it is found all over the world.

Diet

Golden retrievers are known to be omnivorous animals who feed on all kinds of food, their favorite being meat, milk and bread.

Golden retrievers are known to be friendly, kind and confident. They are known to be good family pets that are good with children. They are not very good guard dogs. A Golden retriever is calm, naturally intelligent with eagerness to please everyone

Reproduction

A Golden retriever attains sexual maturity around 6-7 months for males and females. Female dogs start having their first estrous cycle and then experience these cycles bi-annually. They bear their litters roughly 58 to 68 days after their fertilization. They give birth to 4- 5 golden colored puppies in a litter.
