Characteristics

Since the bongos are herbivores, they feed on the bushes, vines, leaves, rotting tree pits, fruits, grasses, roots, and cereals. They often visit the natural salt licks, as the bongos demand for salt in their diets.

Reproduction

The mating period for the bongos are October and January. The gestation period is 9 months. After the gestation period, the mother bongo gives birth to a calf usually in the dense vegetation.
