Binturong

The Biturong is an carnivorous animal. It is also known as bearcat. This animal usually lives in South and Southeast Asia. This animal is decreasing in number and is on the verge of extinction. This is an omnivorous mammal. The Biturong may be called a bearcat but it does not look like a bear or a cat.
Characteristics
The body of this mammal is very long and heavy. It legs are very short and stout. The fur of this animal is very thick and black in colour. The tail has thick fur from the root but gradually the fur diminishes and the tail curls inwards. It has large and prominent black coloured eyes and the ears are very small and rounded. The teeth are very sharp. This animal has five toed feet and claws which are large and strong.
Behaviour
Throughout the day and night this animal is very active.
Diet
This animal eats small mammals, birds, fish, earthworms, insects and also fruits. This animals also likes to eat plantains. They also feed on fowls’ heads and eggs. Rodents can also be their food. They also like to eat figs. This animal eats figs and is responsible for seed dispersal.
